COTTONWOOD'S VISION

Cottonwood, the heart of the Verde Valley, is a progressive community, with unique natural and historical surroundings that offers a quality lifestyle with many of the amenities of metropolitan areas, yet, is a quiet, safe and prosperous place to live and visit.

QUALITY OF LIFE

Sycamore CanyonLocated in Yavapai County, Cottonwood is near the geographic center of Arizona at an elevation of 3,300 feet, insuring almost ideal weather conditions throughout the year. Daytime temperatures range from 58 degrees in the coldest winter month to 98 degrees in the warmest summer month. Nestled in a valley with Mingus Mountain to the west and the red rocks of Sedona to the north, Cottonwood serves as the hub of economic activity in the Verde Valley.

Clean air and water, a multitude of recreational offerings, scenic beauty and its rich historical heritage makes Cottonwood a desirable place to live, work and play.

This rural lifestyle is combined with ready access to major shopping, financial and professional service.

Many cultural opportunities are provided throughout the Verde Valley with additional ones available in Phoenix.

Cottonwood is a socially active community with offerings throughout the year including a large birding festival, air and auto show, numerous musical and theatrical offerings and frequent community gatherings.

FINANCIAL

Both the City of Cottonwood and Yavapai County have established Industrial Development Authorities to promote industry, develop trade and provide for a clean environment by creating incentives for manufacturing, industrial and commercial enterprises to locate in the Verde Valley.

SITES

Various sites exist throughout the city that are properly zoned for light to heavy industrial, with adequate utilities available. Several developers are available who would be interested in discussing a build-to-suit.

Cottonwood developed as the "in-between city" servicing nearby mining and smelter towns. It attracted entrepreneurs who aspired to start and operate businesses free from the restriction of company towns. Today, the city of Cottonwood remains a progressive community committed to quality growth and development in order to enhance economic opportunity for all its citizens.

POPULATION

The Cottonwood / Sedona area, long recognized as an outstanding tourist destination, has attracted the attention of those interested in commercial and industrial development. The area has experienced rapid population growth, as visitors discover the outstanding amenities of the Valley. This factor has created a strong labor market for potential employers. Cottonwood currently has a population of 20,000. The Verde Valley's population is approximately 55,000.

EDUCATION

The local school districts put a premium on workforce development. All local high schools have very active Career and Technical Education programs that include: workplace skills training, software development, all manner of office skills - software and hardware, e-commerce, web site development, digital media, building trades, cabinet making, etc. Extensive partnerships have been developed with local employers to support learning in the schools and preparation of potential employees in the community. Additionally, Cottonwood has a special Career and Technical Skills high school district and Regional Skill Center to further extend the workforce development efforts of local secondary and post-secondary schools.

MEDICAL

Verde Valley Medical CenterVerde Valley Medical Center, a member of Northern Arizona Healthcare, is a full-service, 110-bed, nonprofit hospital serving Cottonwood, Sedona, Camp Verde, and surrounding communities. It is comprised of the Cottonwood campus, the Sedona campus, the Camp Verde Health Center and the Village of Oak Creek Health Center. The largest employer in the Verde Valley, VVMC utilizes 800 professional and support personnel. The medical staff is comprised of more than 80 physicians representing 21 medical specialties. VVMC is governed by a volunteer board of directors who share a common goal of continuous quality improvement, technology advancement and service expansion.

The Cottonwood campus is the only facility in the Verde Valley offering on-site angioplasty and stent placement. VVMC's interventional cardiology program has received national and international recognition as a model program due to its rapid response times. In 2005 the Cath Lab performed its 1,000th interventional procedure, and currently is celebrating five years of saving lives.

In May 2005 VVMC became the fourth hospital in Arizona to acquire a 64-slice CT scanner, the most powerful CT equipment available today outside of research and teaching facilities. Other Medical Imaging services include MRI, X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and Pet/CT scan.

Hand therapy recently was added to VVMC's extensive Rehabilitation Services department which also includes physical, occupational and speech therapy. The department features a state-of-the-art, fully equipped gym.

VVMC provides a multiservice, certified clinical laboratory; 24-hour Emergency department with on-site medically dedicated helicopter; perinatal, newborn and parent education services; surgical services; and a variety of other inpatient and outpatient tests and services. It is home to the Verde Valley Joint Replacement Center, and has the only geriatric behavioral health unit north of Phoenix. VVMC invites the public to utilize its extensive medical library.
